If you google images of Greece, most of the pictures you will see are from Santorini and Athens. Beautiful pictures mind you. I love staring at those blue waters and white houses. Dreamy indeed! But the reality is, Greece is more than just Santorini and Mykonos. And this what I want to explore through this series.
During this small break, I will explore Thessaloniki, Larissa, Meteora, Volos and a few coastal and mountain villages in the Pelion region in Greece. I am looking forward to explore the museums, art works, historical legends, coastal villages, sizzling food, frappes and long shots of Ouzo! Last but not the least, a very good friend of mine is getting married! In Greece! and of course I will be attending the big fat Greek wedding! This wedding is the motivation behind this trip. I will share some glimpse of the ceremony (and being drunk after party) on this space as well. Keep an eye people!
First halt: Thessaloniki (Day 1)
The first halt on this journey is Thessaloniki. I just arrived here after a beautiful landing over the shore. These first few hours have told me a few things about Thessaloniki. It is raw and it is original. Streets are not swarming with tourists. You hear more people speaking Greek than English or German or any other language (although most locals are proficient in English and we cannot be thankful enough for that!).
For now, I am loving the revival of summer and going for my favorite drink, frappe, at the sea shore. I will definitely share the picture with you soon on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Till then enjoy the beautiful sea we saw during landing.
