A clash of kings is the second book in the series A song of ice and fire by GRR Martin. Like Game of thrones, this book keeps you on your toes as well.
Book: ** Spoilers possible**
As the title says, A clash of kings is revolving around clash between the kings for the iron throne. Westeros has four self-proclaimed kings in this part of the book and all of them consider their right on the throne more than the others. Whole realm is divided to support one or the other king leading to many battles. But when has game been fair, especially the one involving throne. Not only people turn coats, devils and black shadows are called upon for the war.
King in the North, Robb wants his sisters back. He wants revenge for his father’s unfair death. After Robert is dead, throne right goes to Joffrey. But on the grounds of being a bastard and that too of incest, his right is challenged by Robert’s brothers Stannis and Renly. The two brothers raise banners against each other to be the rightful owner of the throne. And then there are more battles.
When these 4 kings are fighting for what they think is their right, the dragon queen, Khaleesi, takes them all usurpers and is leading her khalasar to the western lands. She brought the dragons back in game! Not one but three.
Arya (Arry, Mouse) is the ghost of Harrenhal. Valar Morghulis!
Brotherhood from the wall is all out to find out what is troubling on the other side of the wall. They try to search for their long lost brothers but find some unexpected guests rather.
A clash of kings is long, like every other in this series but is again worth all the time and effort. As I mentioned previously, I like how things just suddenly take a very different turn in GRR Martin books. Sometime you have to read a line/para again to verify if you read it correct 😀
GRR Martin has done what most of the authors cannot do. That is: to not disappoint in the next books of the series. Don’t get me wrong, I love series but generally they go downhill after the first book but not this one! A clash of kings is equally powerful and en-capturing as A Game of thrones. So, Don’t wait too long. Just order your book here:
And as you can see, the books are much more cheaper in Kindle version compared to the hardcover or paperback format. In case you don’t have Kindle yet, get it here:
Like the previous season, this season also goes very close to the book. All the ups and down are the same. so if you do not want to read them, just go for the TV series. All characters are very convincing. Costumes and screenplay is really nice!
But them at:
Overall, I loved the book and the TV series. I am reading the third one right now. Will write about it when I finish it again! 😀
